WHAT IS MYOPIA

A review of 25 years of research found that working up close – like reading or using a tablet – increased the odds of myopia.

Myopia is a condition known when the eyeball grows elongated from front to back. This causes images to be focused in front of the retina instead of focused on the retina. Myopia is also known as nearsightedness, having good near vision but poor distance vision. People with undiagnosed myopia have vision related headaches due to excessive eyestrain from trying to see objects in the distance.

Atropine eye drops are used to help prevent myopia in children. When used once a day, clinical studies have shown that low-dose atropine eye drops can help slow the progression of nearsightedness.

how to apply eye drops

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Tilt your head backwards.
  • Place a finger just under your eye and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a V-Shaped Pouch
  • Looking Upward, apply ONE Drop in your eye. Do not let the applicator tip touch the eye or eyelid.
  • Gently close your eye.
  • Keeping your eye closed, gently press the inner corner of your eye (near the nose), for 1 minute. Doing this will ensure that the medication stays in contact with your eye longer, and thus more effective.
  • Once again, wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Please NOTE: Take this medication as directed by your Doctor.
