Myopia is a condition known when the eyeball grows elongated from front to back. This causes images to be focused in front of the retina instead of focused on the retina. Myopia is also known as nearsightedness, having good near vision but poor distance vision. People with undiagnosed myopia have vision related headaches due to excessive eyestrain from trying to see objects in the distance.
Atropine eye drops are used to help prevent myopia in children. When used once a day, clinical studies have shown that low-dose atropine eye drops can help slow the progression of nearsightedness.
